I need to open my eyes, get with the program, drink soda with a higher caffeine content----something!

I replied with a few random posts to various topics while at work this morning, then, because it was a thing I'd been thinking about for a few days, put the thing up comparing Garcia and Zappa, qualifying it with some mamby-pambiness about how I've known Dead Heads who also liked Zappa, shouldn't be that obscure of a notion, blah blah blah blah blah---

Upon closer examination, I see the forum absolutely littered with Zappa references from last night and today. This is synchronicity, great minds thinking alike, or just one mindfreak of a coincidence.

hey Brian: and here i just thought you were taking the ball and running with it...instead it turns out to be one of those "great minds think alike" and "fools seldom differ" kind of thing :)

good thread...gonna have to give it some thought...

I think it's just the pure awesomeness of FZ that is doing this.

I had the same happen with me but it with Eyes of the world. I'd been playing it solid for a couple days and was about to post a topic on it concerning notable performances of it when the next morning somebody preempted me on it.Very trippy.

my 2 bits.....Zappa was into eyes, fersure fursure, his band's were phenomenal. Seen him practice once, his band could pick up at any bar.....hence, crew slut. He was also into soda, but not like The Fugs........his shows were always entertaining and at the edge of social thinking.....now I'll shut up and play my air guitar.

It's not Synchronicity, it's a Ghost in the Machine...

When someone was asking today about jam bands, The Mothers came to me immediately, I didn´t even got to think much. Mysterious physic emanations maybe?
And something else!!!! (not reference to Ornette Coleman) This is my first day in this forum and you´re talkin ´bout Zappa. I used to be a die-hard MotherHead!

That's not what your mom said and it took your father almost a year to get over it.

welcome aboard mother of a deadhead!

i kinda lost track of FZ after Apostrophe'...are there any wicked instrumental numbers (or song with extended jams)in the later years on par with his early 70's epics?

I mentioned Inca Roads (from One Size Fits All). Weird song---a WEIRD song by Zappa and the Mothers? Say it ain't so!---but like I said, it has my favorite FZ guitar solo. There's a good George Duke keyboard solo in it, too. There's a very nice melodic instrumental on the album called Sofa. He returns to the melody later, adding German lyrics with proclamations of being inanimate objects: "Ich bin der Chrome Dinette!"
